Naomi – Access and Inclusion in Technology
Naomi, TechGirl 2019, USA
Naomi has committed to provide access and inclusion to technology in her work!
“Before the quarantine, I hosted a 5-week workshop, at my local library, as the Branch Manager of CoderChicks to teach HTML and CSS. During quarantine, I have done a few things. I taught over 40 students, through an organization called Kindling Curiosity, how to code in HTML and CSS. In July, I attended the Kode With Klossy summer camp for two weeks learning how to incorporate Javascript into my websites.
I had the amazing opportunity to interview the founder of Black Girls Code, Kimberly Bryant, and become a student ambassador. Deepika Kannan, the founder of CoderChicks, and I co-led a Cybersecurity workshop for young girls in December. I also took up the new role of being the webmaster of Elevate The Future Maryland.
Lastly, I co-hosted an app design workshop for 200 young girls with Black Girls Code. All of these experiences allowed me to better myself and to dive into the world of technology more and I am so grateful for them. We’re so impressed with Naomi for her work! #womenintech #STEAM
