Leena – Unleashing the Power of Python

Through the remarkable TechGirls program, I was given a one of a kind opportunity to not only discover the world of coding and microprocessors but also to go to the States and engage with a community of female STEM geniuses and dreamers for 3 weeks. With their support, I was able to dive into the depths of Python and Arduino and become proficient in a matter of weeks.

Filled with newfound confidence, I returned home and decided to create a “Python for Beginners” course at my school. It was my chance to share my passion for coding and technology with my peers, and to inspire them to unlock their potential. We started with simple programs that printed messages to the screen, and gradually worked our way up to more complex topics like loops, conditional statements, and functions. It was amazing to see how quickly my peers caught on and began to write their own lines of code. I was filled with a sense of pride and accomplishment, knowing that I had sparked their curiosity and set them on the path towards success. 

Throughout the course, we worked on exciting projects that applied Python to real-world problems. We created simple games, analyzed data, and built interactive websites. One of our most ambitious projects was recreating the website of Google Classroom and Pinterest. It was amazing to see how we could use the skills we were learning to create something that had real-world value. 

Teaching this course not only helped me improve my coding skills, but it also taught me valuable leadership skills. I learned how to communicate complex concepts in simple terms, how to manage a group of students with different learning styles, and how to provide feedback that was both constructive and supportive. The entire experience was nothing short of awe-inspiring. I was given the chance to share my knowledge and skills with others, as well as help spread the message of TechGirls and empower other females in my community to reach for the stars. 

I am tremendously grateful to TechGirls for providing the resources, inspiration, and connecting me with the community of like-minded individuals who share my love for technology, which consequently allowed me to further grow my passion for learning Python and the ambition of sharing my knowledge with others. I hope that my story will inspire others to discover the joy of coding and to unlock their full potential. With a little bit of determination, anything and everything is possible!
As I continue to explore the world of coding and technology, I know that I will carry with me the lessons I have learned through TechGirls. They have instilled in me a passion for learning, a drive for success, and a deep appreciation for the power of technology to make a positive impact on the world, especially regarding the role of women in STEM in my community. Thank you, TechGirls, for all that you have done for me and for girls everywhere who dream of a future in STEM. You are truly making a difference all over the world, and I am proud to be a part of this wonderful community. Once a TechGirl, always a TechGirl!
