TechGirls 2021 Staffing Opportunities

March 1, 2021

In light of the ongoing global pandemic, and the associated administrative, logistical, and safety challenges, the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and Legacy International have made the difficult decision to cancel the in-person TechGirls 2021 summer exchange.  We are going virtual with a dynamic program.

The TechGirls team at Legacy International and its partner Virginia Tech University are working to design a  robust virtual program that  includes STEM courses facilitated by Virginia Tech faculty,   career and college readiness workshops, community leadership project planning, a half-day conference with STEM leaders at NASA, virtual homestays with U.S. teens, virtual job shadow experiences, as well as potential discussions with female technologists in Silicon Valley.  We also are exploring the feasibility of a shorter conference in the United States at a later date, when conditions permit.

Legacy International seeks committed staff to join our summer team to deliver a dynamic virtual experience.  We are accepting resumes until April 12, 2021.  Please review the positions.

 Are you…?

  • Looking for an exciting, short-term role and want to be part of a small team making a big difference?
  • Someone who believes in empowering young women with the skills needed to excel in STEM and who loves the cultures of the Middle East and North Africa and Central Asia?
  • Ready to join a close-knit team that inspires and connects individuals, organizations, and businesses to make a real difference in the lives of teens and young professionals worldwide?

TechGirls program staff strive to create an environment where participants can feel a sense of trust and respect for one another. This atmosphere originates through staff attitudes and actions. Participants follow the staff members’ example and gain new understandings of how dedication and commitment can build a strong community. By choosing to work for Legacy International, each staff member agrees to uphold high standards of personal behavior and job performance.

Please note U.S. Citizenship required.

TechGirls Is a U.S. Department of State initiative and exchange program designed to inspire young women from the Middle East and North Africa to pursue higher education and careers in technology through hands-on skills development. It is administered by Legacy International in partnership with Virginia Tech, Center for Enhancement of Engineering Diversity.
